Sunday night the Chicago Bulls went up against the Philadelphia 76ers.  The 76ers were without Joel Embiid who has been their leading scorer and rebounder.  Tonight the 76ers were lead by Ersan Ilyasova who had 31 points and 11 boards in 34 minutes of play.  They also had four other players who had double figure scoring nights including Robert Covington with 21 points and 12 boards.

The Chicago Bulls were lead by non-other than Jimmy Butler.  Butler had 28 points leading the team in scoring and disrupting the 76ers offense recording 4 steals and two of them coming in fast break situations.  To add to Butlers scoring contributions there were 5 other Bulls in double figures including Robin Lopez 21, Dwayne Wade 14, Doug McDermott 14, Paul Zipster 13, and Nikola Mirotic 13.

Robin Lopez brought it last night. 21 points (9-13 FG), 10 boards, and 3 blocks:

The Bulls started the game slow getting down by 6 early but by halfway through the first quarter they took the lead and took a 20 point lead midway through the second quarter.  At this point it looked like Chicago was going to run away with it.

After the big lead in the second quarter the 76ers came back in the third quarter to tie the game up 81-81 with 4 minutes left to go.  At that point doubt started to set in since they have been making it a habit of blowing games where they have been up big early on.  There was no such disappointment tonight because after the tie the Bulls started to build their lead back up and the 76ers did get it back within 5 points with 5:21 left in the 4th quarter but the 76ers just ran out of gas at the end leading to a final score of 121-108.

This win was exactly what the Bulls need it as they look to turn their season around.  They go up against a tough opponent in the Oklahoma City Thunder and triple double machine Russell Westbrook Wednesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
