DeRozan and Valanciunas lead Raptors past Detroit Pistons

The Toronto Raptors played well in the first game of the campaign year, continuing their great play from last season.

If you don’t remember, the Raptors set many new franchise records in 2015-16, and one of those was setting a new win/loss record as they exited the regular season with 56 wins and 26 losses. Additionally, this Raptors team also led the organization to its first conference finals, where they faced off against the eventual champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though they were defeated in the best of seven series, they showed fans (and everyone else) that they can hang with the best of them.

On Wednesday, . DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas played extremely well for their first game back. DeRozan scored 40 points, while Valanciunas scored 32 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. But the dark horse in this game was rookie Pascal Siakam, who was a pesky defender and who hustled for rebounds. In under 22 minutes, he grabbed nine rebounds and scored four points.

Check out some of their handy work:

Do you think the Raptors can continue playing like this throughout the season? Let me know in the comments below.
