Bengals Earn Much Needed Win
The Bengals needed a win like they never needed one before, and they definitely earned it today.
The offense seemed to be clicking on all levels today, as they scored on their first drive and had 559 total yards of offense. Andy Dalton had a near-perfect performance today as he threw for over 300 yards, 2 touchdowns, and most importantly, zero interceptions. The emergence of the running game was a pleasant surprise as well today. Jeremy Hill exploded today for 168 yards on only 9 carries; Gio also had a nice game as he ran the ball for 80 yards. They both put the ball in the endzone as well. A.J. Green also did work today, catching 8 passes for a grand total of 169 yards.
Today's performance was not everything you would want to see from a team who is fighting every game to reach the playoffs. The defense did not look great at times, as they allowed 104 rushing yards to quarterback Kevin Hogan (seriously, who is that?) which is not a great sign for the Bengals. All-in-all they put in a solid day's effort and did all they needed to and more to secure a comfortable win today. A few days ago, I wrote about how the game today was more-or-less a tune-up game; or a game that should be an easy win as well as a confidence booster for the team. The former was semi-true as the Bengals definitely were in control of the game today. And for the latter, I guess we'll find out next week as they face-off against Washington next week in London.
In Other News
Today was a great day for the Bengals as AFC North foes, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers both lost today. The Ravens now sit at 3-4 and Pittsburgh is 4-3. Also, next week's opponent, Washington suffered a loss today against the surprisingly 4-3 Detroit Lions.
