Scoring systems used are according to NFL.com standard scoring.

Through the first two games of the season, only one quarterback has scored 20 or more fantasy points in both contests. No, it’s not Tom Brady who was stymied by the Chiefs on opening night. No, it’s not Aaron Rodgers who has failed to top 20 points in both weeks. It’s Trevor Siemian, the man who, prior to the season, was ranked as the 28th best quarterback by a consensus of 88 experts on fantasypros.com.

In terms of total fantasy points amongst quarterbacks, he trails only Alex Smith and although Siemian’s arrow is certainly pointing up for now, the real question is, will he sustain this level of play?

Denver’s elite defense will ensure that games stay close, meaning Siemian can continue to work the short to intermediate passing game where he’s most effective. In addition, although C.J. Anderson has just one rushing touchdown, he has a respectable 4.4 yard per carry average that keeps defenses honest. The supporting pieces are there for Siemian to continue to thrive, but it’s probably best to temper expectations.

Because he doesn’t throw for many yards (just 225 ypg this season), Siemian is a somewhat touchdown dependent quarterback, making him a risk to start. However, he hasn't had problems finding the end zone thus far. His six passing touchdowns are tied for the league lead with Matthew Stafford and twice as many as Brady, Rodgers, and Drew Brees.

This week’s game against a Bills defense that held Cam Newton and the Panthers out of the end zone last week will go a long way in determining the long term viability of Siemian. He’s worth adding to your roster if you need an upgrade at backup quarterback, but hold off on starting him this week.
