It hasn’t taken long for Ezekiel Elliott to surpass pretty much every expectation placed on him in his rookie season.

During an appearance on Fox Sports’ “Speak For Yourself” Wednesday, former Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl-winning head coach Jimmy Johnson compared the two, claiming that Elliott already has an edge over Emmitt Smith in several categories.

“Elliott’s bigger, stronger, maybe even a step faster than Emmitt Smith,” Johnson said. “But they’re both very similar. I think, you know, Ezekiel Elliott is a more powerful runner. He runs over people. Both of ’em can make people miss, so you don’t really get a big shot on ’em.

“But Elliott will take on tacklers, whereas, you know, Emmitt never did this.”

It hasn’t taken long for Elliott to surpass pretty much every expectation placed on him in his rookie season. Elliott in 10 games has already surpassed Smith’s rookie rushing total with his 1,102 yards, and is on pace for 1,763 yards.
