Thoughts on Knicks vs HEAT
-Shouldn't have been this close but in the end they found a way to pull it out.
-Tonight's win, and Detroit's loss, moves the team to the fifth seed with four wins above .500 (21-17). Very impressive considering the early season inconsistencies and injuries.
-Michael Beasley almost willed the Knicks to victory against his former team. Until he injured his ankle after scoring the first bucket in OT.
-He finished the game with a double double (20pts, 11 rebounds).
-Josh Richardson, Goran Dragic, and Wayne Ellington came through for the Heat late in the game.
-Whiteside played 23 minutes tonight and finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and two blocks. He scored 10 of his 12 points in the third period, but never returned after it.
-The Heat instead went with Bam Adebayo and James Johnson to open the fourth before finishing with Olynyk and Johnson for the rest of the game. Spo stuck with Olynyk at the five to match up with the Knicks small ball lineup.
-Olynyk finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds but did make plenty game winning plays during the game.
-A franchise record 42 three-pointers for the Heat tonight. They only made 12 of them. The previous record was 41. When asked about the three-point attempts after the game, Spo joked "What has this organization come to?"
- The Heat remained without Dion Waiters and Justise Winslow. Derrick Walton Jr. also sat out due to illness.
-Waiters is said to be considering a second opinion on his sprained right ankle. Which is frustrating. Either have the surgery or don't.
-The Heat will finish their three game homestead on Sunday when they host the Utah Jazz, who have lost 11 of 14 games entering Friday.
