When the Columbus Blue Jackets blew a 4 to 1 lead the other night against the New York Rangers, it happened without Sergei Bobrovsky in net. Curtis McElhinney was the goalie. He was shaky all game long despite making 29 saves.

He has only appeared in 7 games this season. He is 2-1-2 with a .924 save percentage and a 2.39 GAA. After that performance and having a shaky season, the Columbus Blue Jackets have decided to call up Anton Forsberg from Cleveland (AHL) and place McElhinney on waivers.

This is the correct move the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is 12-6-1 with a 2.16 GAA and a .930 save percentage along with 1 shutout this season in the AHL. Forsberg will become a reliable backup for the Blue Jackets. He is only 24 years old and has potential.

I thought they were going to call up Joonas Korpisalo, who played 31 games in the NHL last season in the absence of Sergei Bobrovsky. Korpisalo hasn't been so hot this year in the AHL so I guess they want to give him some reps down there since he has also a bright future ahead of him.

Another reason this is a good move is because maybe the players will have trust in a young player who is steady in net and not all over the place like McElhinney was.
