The Seattle Mariners were one of the surprising good teams last year in the MLB, despite missing the postseason. They won 86 games last year and finished in second in the AL West. Seattle feels like they can take the next step this season and make the playoffs.

Felix Hernandez is the king of the Seattle Mariners starting rotation. The other projected starters are Hisashi Iwakuma, James Paxton, Drew Smyly, and Yovani Gallardo. If they can help Felix out, they can make a serious push at the division. Edwin Diaz is expected to be the closer.

Mike Zunino will probably be the catcher. Carlos Ruiz will be an experienced back up for him. In the infield, Robinson Cano, Jean Segura, and Kyle Seager are clear cut starters in the infield. Danny Valencia and Daniel Vogelbach will battle it out to be the starting first basemen.

In the outfield, Jarrod Dyson will be a speedster for them. Leonys Martin will probably be a starter. Mitch Haniger and Ben Gamel will compete for the starting right field position.

Projected opening day lineup: 1.(LF) Jarrod Dyson 2.(SS) Jean Segura 3. (2B) Robinson Cano 4.(DH) Nelson Cruz 5.(3B) Kyle Seager 6. (C) Mike Zunino 7.(1B) Dan Vogelbach 8. (CF) Leonys Martin 9. (RF) Ben Gamel

The Seattle Mariners open up the season on the road against the Houston Astros on April 3rd. Seattle's home opener is against the same team on April 10th.
