In the last article, the Alpha-2/Bravo-2 Championship was determined when the 1882 Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the Philadelphia A's 16-15 in a one game playoff. Now it was time to determine the Yankee-Bravo/2 Championship in a best two-of-three. The teams were the 1884 Providence Grays and the 1882 Cincinnati Red Stockings.

The Red Stockings won Game 1 on 5-15-1888 12-4. The Providence Grays came and tied series at 1-1 with a 10-7 win. In the deciding Game 3, the Red Stockings won on a walk off grand slam 11-7 in 10 innings to claim the Championship. This threw the league into chaos as 7th place Golf now had a 2-1 lead on 2nd place Echo which led to the EFCDBG Challenge to sort out the standings. Alpha was not involved and maintained 1st place in the group standings.

This is Pop Snyder, the catcher of the 1882 Cincinnati Red Stockings. He was also a manager and an umpire.

Game 1 was between the 9E 1873 Boston Red Stockings and the 9D 1878 Indianapolis Blues. The Red Stockings won 9-4 which put Echo ahead of Delta 42-36, but trailed Golf 2-1 which set off this six group Championship. Game 6 was played on 5-21-1888 and was between 8G 1872 Brooklyn Atlantics and the 8F 1876 Louisville Grays which the Grays won 10-7. That put Foxtrot ahead of Golf 1-0, but they were tied with Charlie 0-0. Game 11 was between the 6D 1882 Boston Red Stockings and the 6B 1880 Chicago White Stockings which Boston won 9-3. Delta now led Bravo 6-4, but Charlie led Delta 2-0.

Game 15 was between 5G 1877 Boston Red Stockings and 5B 1887 St. Louis Browns. The Browns won this one 13-8 and Bravo led Golf 10-6, but trailed Delta 6-4. Game 19 was between the 3E 1871 Chicago White Stockings and the 3D 1885 New York Giants. There was real world information for this game when on 5-17-1883 the White Stockings won 15-2, so this was factored into the formula. Unbelievably, the Giants tied the game 11-11 and they went to the 10th. The Giants hit a walk off grand slam to win 15-11. Delta still trailed Echo 42-38, but the standings were very jumbled.
