MLS Week 24 Team of the Wek

GK: Alex Bono, Toronto FC

4x Team of the Week

Alex Bono came into the year as the backup for TFC but he has impressed greatly and taken over the starting job. Bono came up clutch in their win over the tough Chicago Fire. Bono made repeated saves and ended up with a total of six. Bono and the TFC defense only allowed one goal in the big win. Bono has been great in net and is leading the defense to be one of the best in MLS.

DEF: Lalas Abubakar, Columbus Crew SC

2x Team of the Week

The Crew have had some luck with their rookies this season. Lalas Abubakar has made some mistakes in games but when he impresses, god goes the kid really impress. Abubakar had the best week of any defender and this week he and the Crew backline only allowed one goal. Besides leading a strong backline he was able to put away a goal of his own and be a deciding factor on offense himself.

DEF: Graham Zusi, Sporting Kansas City

4x Team of the Week

The converted midfielder to right-back had an impactful week on offense this week. Besides being part of a strong backline that shutout FC Dallas, Zusi was able to add two assists to the 2-0 win. Zusi was able to get down the sideline, blow by FC Dallas defenders and put in some great passes to Gerso and Diego Rubio in the box. Zusi is a better midfielder than a defender... but in MLS he isn't a bad fullback at all.

DEF: Kendall Waston, Vancouver Whitecaps

3x Team of the Week

Waston is a larger man, a very large man. This week he was the leader for an entire Whitecaps team that was able to get an important win over the Houston Dynamo. Waston and the Caps defense was able to only allow one goal to the tough Dynamo offense. He played out of his mind and got in front of so many shots coming from the Dynamo attack.

DEF: Chad Marshall, Seattle Sounders

4x Team of the Week

Chad Marshall has been one of the best defenders in MLS history and once again showed his skill by easily being the best defender on the field for Seattle's 2-1 win over the Loons. Minnesota United didn't play bad at all but Marshall was able to take advantage of the Ramirez-less Loons. Chad Marshall scored the game tying goal for the Sounders on a Lodiero cross. Marshall is key to the Sounders playoff run as he will need to lead an entire team, defense, and be the best defender.

MID: Ignacio Piatti, Montreal Impact

7x Team of the Week

After a slow start to the season, Piatti is playing like we all expected him to! Piatti and the Impact played two games this week and it was the Piatti show. Nacho scored a total of four goals in two games and maybe had the best week of any player this season. Piatti is the MLS Aces Player of the Week and for a very good reason. Piatti has made some incredible passes and has really improved through better play of his teammates.

MID: Blerim Dzemaili, Montreal Impact

4x Team of the Week

Talking about better play from Piatti's teammates, Dzemaili has been one of those teammates. Dzemaili had a total of two assists in two games this week and his position in the midfield is unmatched. Blerim adds another play maker and a guy who can set up so many passes for Piatti and Jackson-Hamel. THings are looking up for the Impact as they are starting to form a run into the playoffs.

MID: Diego Valeri, Portland Timbers

7x Team of the Week

Valeri is an MLS legend and should be remembered as one forever. Valeri needed to come up clutch against the Red Bulls as the Timbers didn't have forward Fanendo Adi. Valeri was set up by (maybe a lucky no call from the refs) Diego Chara and put away the first goal in the game from the Timbers. Then later on the seal the game Valeri took advantage of a keeperless net and assisted on a ball scored by Darren Mattocks.

MID: Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders

7x Team of the Week

I'm cheating here by putting Dempsey in the midfield but I mean fuck it right? Captain America had a big week by putting away the Sounders game winning penalty kick. Dempsey is such an amazing leader of the field for the Sounders and his passing and positioning gets him and his teammates so many goal scoring opportunities. Throughout this game against Minnesota you couldn't help but notice Dempsey in every play.

FOR: David Villa, New York City FC

8x Team of the Week

David Villa has been arguably the best Designated Player in MLS history and now leads the MLS 2017 scoring race. David Villa and NYCFC went down early to the Revs 1-0. David Villa then pulled a David Villa and scored to give NYCFC a boost add tie the game at one a piece. After tying the game, Villa then came up clutch late and assisted on a stoppage time goal scored by Jonathan Lewis in order to win the game 2-1.

FOR: Anthony Jackson-Hamel, Montreal Impact

2x Team of the Week

Anthony Jackson-Hamel has developed into an MLS starter and possibly a starting forward for the Canadian National Team. AJH did all of his damage in the Impact's second game of the week as he scored one goal in the 47th minute to seal the win right after the half. But AJH made more of an impact early on as he assisted Piatti's 11th minute goal and then on his 29th minute goal. I am excited to see his development as the Impact try to sure up a playoff spot late in the season.
