In the final week of the MLS season we still had plenty of fireworks on what will be remembered as a very fun decision day. GK: Luis Robles NYRB

4x Team of the Week

Luis Robles has been a huge force in the New York/New Jersey areas for many seasons. Again this week he proved why. He shutout the Philadelphia Union, securing the number one seed in the east and did it by recording five saves. Robles is a top of the line goalkeeper in MLS and has put another great season behind him, moving into the playoffs.

DEF: Aurélien Collin NYRB

2x Team of the Week

Collin had his way with the Union attack on Sunday. Collin is known for his big and physical paly which he demonstrated clearly on decision day. One thing that he doesn`t normally do, which he did on Sunday, was get into the attack. Collin put in a very nice pass to Bradley Wright-Phillips who scored.

DEF: Jelle Van Damme LA

5x Team of the Week

Van Damme is the best defender on the Galaxy. He has skill with the ball at this feet and he is also a very large man, which is tough to get around. Van Damme led a b-team LA Galaxy against FC Dallas and came away with a 0-0 draw. FC Dallas couldn’t really do much and that was due in part to the bald man sitting in that centerback spot.

DEF: Atiba Harris FCD

2x Team of the Week

Looking opposite of Jelle Van Damme in that game was FC Dallas defender Atiba Harris. Harris had a very good game slowing down the likes of Landon Donovan and Ariel Lassiter. He is quick and can slow the attack of the opposition. I was very impressed with his play against the Galaxy and he came away with zero goals allowed.

DEF: Tyrone Mears SEA

2x Team of the Week

My final defender for the final week of the season is Seattle defender Tyrone Mears. I feel like what Mears did this week was drastically overlooked. He has stepped it up all season long playing in the fullback position. This week he did it again stopping the likes of Joao Plata and Burrito Martinez. Mears pushed up the field from the fullback spot and also was effective putting a ball into the box that Jordan Morris backheeled to Fernandez.

MID: Kevin Molino ORL

5x Team of the Week

Kevin Molino had himself a very good game against a weak D.C. United team. Molino scored early on for the purple lions beating numerous amounts of defenders. Molino then added an assist later on a goal scored by Kaka to bring his team up 2-0 at that point. Molino has impressed all year long and I think his name will be up there for one of the MLS awards at the end of the season.

MID: Frank Lampard NYC

5x Team of the Week

Frank the Tank! Frank Lampard quickly shed the “worst DP signing in MLS history” tag this season by being a huge factor on and off the field for NYCFC. Lampard this week impressed again by assist on two of the team`s four goals. Lamps first assisted on the 75th minute goal scored by Jack Harrison and later assisted on the 90th minute goal put away by David Villa.

MID: Giles Barnes VAN

1x Team of the Week

The Vancouver Whitecaps didn`t end the Timbers season, Giles Barnes did. Barnes came out early and scored a brace leaving all Portland Timber fans upset and all alone. Barnes made the weak Portland backline look silly as he put away beautiful shots. I`m sure Vancouver fans would have been happy to see him play like this when they first acquired him but, they can be happy in knowing that he ended their Cascadia rivals season.

7x Team of the Week

Kaka seems interest in coming back to Orlando after the 2017 season and his play this week made it difficult to say he shouldn’t return. Ricardo Kaka scored a goal early on, off of a beautiful Kevin Molino pass. He also recorded two assists in this game as well. One started the scoring in the 13th minute and the next seemingly sealed the game in the 50 minute.

FOR: David Villa NYC

10x Team of the Week

David Villa might have fallen short on the golden boot this season but he sure did put on a show in his final game of the regular season. Villa scored one late in extra time to add onto the pounding that NYC put on the Crew. He also had an assist on the day which added to his role as a team leader. Villa`s presence was all over the pitch and was the #1 reason why NYCFC were able to win and lock up the number two seed in the east.

FOR: Sebastian Giovinco TFC

8x Team of the Week

Heeeeeee`s baaaaack. It’s scary to think that this guy finished high on both the goal scoring list and assist list after missing a month of the season. Giovinco is here and he is healthy right at the perfect time for TFC. This week he had a very Giovinco-esc performance scoring a goal from the penalty spot and adding an assist to his name as well. With Gio healthy and Jozy Altidore being in form, the eastern conference needs to watch out. The North is Coming.
