He may only be a rookie, but Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse is getting quite the reputation as a guy you don't want to mess with.

Tuesday night during the Oilers game with the San Jose Sharks---Nurse took offense to a hit late in the 3rd period by San Jose's Roman Polak after Polak had hit Oilers forward Matt Hendricks.

Revenge was swift. And apparently painful as Nurse jumped Polak in front of both teams benches and pounded on him pretty hard before the Sharks defenseman could get his gloves off. For his effort, Polak had to leave the ice with a rather bloody nose.

Nurse got a minor roughing penalty and a five-minute fighting major. Polak got the same though he didn't get a chance to really fight--he never saw Nurse coming.

For what it is worth, San Jose won the game 3-0 which coincidentally is Nurse's record this season in fights.
