Is This The First-Ever East Coast TD Pass Thrown By A Girl In High School Football...???
((HT: James Alverson's YouTube page/))
Cynthia Brown lined up to punt for Portsmouth (VA) Woodrow Wilson against Deep Creek and, instead of punting the ball, she found Kevin Whitfield for the score.
"To the best of our knowledge," VHSL spokesman Mike McCall said, "it has not been done in a varsity game."
Chris Boone of The National Federation of State High School Associations said it's not known how many girls have thrown touchdown passes nationally. But a USA Today story said Miranda McOsker came off the bench to throw three touchdown passes in relief of an injured quarterback for a school in Torrance, Calif., in 2005.
"I think it's a big accomplishment," said Brown, a senior. "But it would have been even better if we won the football game."
The HQ would love to know if this is the first TD pass by a girl in a game on that coast... If you know, let us know...
The McOsker details are from October of 2005. She went 4-for-5 with 3 TD's for Bishop Montgomery in Torrance, California as a siophomore replacement after an injury.
