Report: Peyton Manning to take pay cut to stay with Broncos: Should He?
When do you say "Enough is enough, I'm done?" When do you say; "I don't have it anymore, I'm ready to retire?"...
IF you are Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning, it's apparently not this year.
Reports out of Denver say the team and the legendary Quarterback have agreed on a $4 million pay cut for Peyton to stay with the team for 2015.
Manning and the Broncos did not finish 2014 on a good note. Peyton struggled the last quarter of the season after a reported groin/leg injury the severity of which has been open to debate.
The Broncos were laid out by the Colts in the AFC semi-finals as Manning could not get anything on his throws or get the ball down the field. Quite honestly, for those of you into old-school football, he looked like a slow footed version of Billy Kilmer.
But he's still smarter than everyone else on the field. And even wounded, he's better than 80% of the quarterbacks in the NFL today.
The question we have is this: Are the Broncos the best team in the AFC? Will they go to the Super Bowl in 2015? Will it end like it did this past season? Or worse?
Our guess is this is the last hurrah. The Broncos are very good, but we don't think they are the best team in the league. And Peyton is sticking around because he wants another Super Bowl ring.
One that we don't think he will get.
The pay cut is nothing. Dropping from $19 to $15 million a year is nothing to someone worth that much money. How do you spend all of it? Is it possible? John Elway wants a Super Bowl title as GM/President. Will he get it this year? We don't think so...
The sad thing is, we don't want to see Manning go out badly. We don't want him to be this generations Kansas City Chiefs Joe Montana. Or Brett Favre.
Give it one more try. Try to make it work, and Broncos fan, you better hope for your sake he spends a lot of time this season tutoring Brock Orsweiller...otherwise 2016 on are not going to be a lot of fun for you....
