There's a reason UFC has likely surpassed bo as the sport of choice for fight fans. The battles are often intense and can at times be bloody and violent.

What happened Saturday night at UFC 189 is a prime example.

The feature bout was an interim featherweight title match between Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes. And the grueling match featured punches, takedowns, old school grappling and at the very end, with the clock running down in round 2--two exhausted fighters trying to finish strong.

That's when McGregor struck, dropping Mendes with two punches and winning the title.

It was a great fight, but it wasn't even the best fight of the evening.

No, that went to the Robbie Lawler vs. Rory McDonald who went at it for the Welterweight title in a bloody, hard fought and long battle.

Lawler would eventually get the TKO win, but both fighters paid the price and wowed the fans who actually got to see it.
