Is Stephen Curry a Fake Panthers Fan?

There have been plenty of tweets by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry showing his loyalty to the Carolina Panthers and how he will, "Keep Poundng"
all the time. He has been to numerous Panthers games and was even the "Keep Pounding" drummer for a game.

This month has been all about fans nominating certain players for the Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award which recognizes players that perform well on the field and off the field with charities or other fundraisers. In other words, a great person all around. The player that gets the most mentions of their hashtag on Twitter gets $25k dollars to give to their charity. Greg Olsen, the reliable Panthers tight end, is running for this award and you would think Curry would be all for supporting a player from a team he supposedly supports through thick and thin.

Greg was leading the mentions for several days, but 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith has made an incredible comeback from third place to thousands of mentions ahead of Greg Olsen in just a few days. How could that be possible? It is hard to say for sure, but there are speculations that he is using bot accounts and also doing daily giveaways to get more Twitter followers to get actively tweeting. He went to the fan shop and loaded up on merchandise to give away. Would you consider that cheating? He also reached out to celebrities like Stephen Curry to get his 7 million followers involved.

If Greg Olsen and the Panthers get a new game plan soon Torrey Smith could pull too far ahead for a comeback. Panther nation has been strong, but not enough people are participating. A few Panthers fans on Twitter are talking about setting up a GoFundMe if Olsen doesn't win. It would only take a few dollars for all the fans to reach the goal of $25k.

Above all, both are highly deserving players with good charities. It will be interesting to see how this plays out the rest of the month.

I still love you
