Ex-NFL Star Darren Sharper Sentenced To 18-Years In Prison
Former NFL star Darren Sharper was sentenced to 18-years in prison today (Thursday, August 18) by a judge in New Orleans for raping 16 women in four different states. The former All-Pro safety for the Green Bay Packers drugged and then raped his victims.
"I would like to apologize a thousand times," Sharper said. "I'm still trying to figure out why I made some of these choices. ... I lived my life right for 38 years, then I took this path." But one of his victims, whose identity was concealed, wasn't buying his apology.
"Within days ... you gave me ... and the entire judicial system in Louisiana the big middle finger because you thought we weren't capable of stopping you," she said. "You continued to rape other women in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas."
"....It wasn't a mistake," the victim added. "A mistake happens once and you never make it again. Rather, it was a way of life for you, and your friends."
