Coppell Football Preview 2015
The 2015-2016 Coppell Cowboy Football season is among us and so are many changes for the Cowboys. From the personnel to the stadium changes, the Cowboys will try to prove that change is a good thing.
During the offseason, last year’s offensive coordinator Michael Odle accepted a job at Hebron High School. With Odle gone, Jay Jones from Richland High School will take over a very high powered offense with Senior quarterback Myles Paschal at the helm. Paschal combined with senior running back Brandon Rice and senior receivers Josh Fink and Obi Obialo could be a lethal combination which could lead to a lot of wins for the Cowboys. As far as more changes, this offseason Buddy Echols field has undergone renovations which include all new turf, track and even new goalposts. The field improvements come as part of the new Athletic bond. Change will also come in the senior leadership as last year’s seniors left big shoes to fill. But, Head Coach Mike DeWitt isn’t the least bit concerned; “Our seniors have sustained the leadership from last year through offseason, spring ball and are now doing so in two-a-days” said DeWitt. This leadership will be crucial this season as the Cowboys have an even more difficult schedule this season. “Our schedule is again very competitive as we are facing a lot of the same teams, but the addition of Broken Arrow makes it even tougher” said DeWitt. The Cowboys will host Broken Arrow High School on September 11 in our homecoming game. Maxpreps has Broken Arrow ranked as the number six best team in the state of Oklahoma. Though this schedule looks to be tough, DeWitt is just focused on the first game; “We’ve just been keeping our eyes on the first game and then we will go from there.” The Cowboys will start their season with a home scrimmage against Midlothian tonight at 5:00 PM at Buddy Echols Field.
